A wonderfully decorative pair of painted prints after the original paintings by John Frederick Herring Snr (1795-1865). The first depicts ‘Tarrare’ The winner of the Great St. Leger stake at Doncaster in 1826 and the second Birmingham, winner of the 1830 St. Leger Stakes. The pair are both beautifully coloured and in very good condition with some light craquelure. The prints have been mounted some time ago in resized period bird’s eye maple frames with modern slips, they also have silver title labels. The pair have a superb tired country house look and are ready to hang. C.1900.
