A charming miniature study of fruit. The work is done in exquisite detail and the colours of the fruit are bright and fresh. The rosewood frame is the original and has a lovely colour, patina and figuring. The glass has a nice gilt strip framing the painting which is again original. The reverse bares a label reading ‘Dr Carruthers, Salisbury’ it is possible this is the name or the artist or it might be a past owner. The whole is in excellent ready to hang condition and is a little gem. C.1860.
