Unusual Large Regency Family Print

A very unusual and quirky late Regency print of a family feeding caged birds. The print has been laid to a canvas and varnished, the varnish has discoloured over time to a deep sepia colour. The subject matter is most unusual with the family all in profile standing behind the birdcage as the viewer looks through. The whole has an almost surrealist look about it and is both naive and almost folk art looking. I have never seen this particular subject done in this way before. The work is on overall good condition but there has been the odd minor blemishes and tears, this might be why it was at some point been laid down on a canvas to strengthen it. The work is mounted in a Victorian period frame and I would think it has been in this frame from the Victorian period. The frame is very good quality and it good condition. The whole is the most unusual image with a great unique quirky decorative appeal. C.1830.
