A truly stunning pair of portraits in oils on panel. The pair either depict a mother and daughter or they are the same person at different ages, the resemblance is definitely there. The quality of the paintings are wonderful and the colours are rich and bright, neither seems to be signed but this is not unusual for this period portraiture. They are both top level Regency portraits in perfect condition. The pair are mounted in the original frames which are just the finest quality and most unusually are gilt and bird’s eye maple. I have only seen this type of frame twice before. These are two of the best Regency portraits I’ve owned and the frames really are the cherry on the top. The pair are in excellent condition, the paintings have been professionally cleaned and there has been some repair to the frames. The pair are unique with the most fine of country houses look. C.1830.
