Product Description
An exceptionally finely decorated piece of meiji period Japanese porcelain. The bowl is of a large size and is decorated with alternating panels of Peonies and Chrysanthemums. The decorating in Imari palette is wonderfully painted and then the gilding is overglaze. The gilding is stunning and in excellent condition. The interior is equally finely painted with scholars scrolls and a phoenix in the base. The whole is in excellent condition with only very slight wear to the gilding in places. The piece has a hand painted mark for the Fukagawa factory, the factory exhibited at various worlds fairs and this could be one of these pieces. C.1900.
