Product Description
A superb example of an early Victorian pole screen. The pole screen is in well figured rosewood and stands on a triform base with carved column and scroll feet. The pole terminates in an elaborate carved and turned finial. The screen is shaped and carved with scrolls all of the same wonderful quality. The needlework which is the original is in stunning condition bright and fresh in colour. The needlework shows a very unusual scene of a young boy drawing the portrait of the viewer of the screen. A truly fine and unusual example of this period piece of furniture and hugely decorative and in great original condition. C.1840.
