Rare early bulldog oil painting
Make an enquiry about this item
A rare early oil on canvas painting of a bulldog. The painting shows the older form of the English bulldog before the snub nose was bred into the breed. The quality of the work is wonderful with great detail and character, it does not appear to be signed although this is not unusual for early animal paintings often painted by regional commercial artists. The painting has been professionally cleaned and a few minor holes repaired. The work is framed in a period gilt frame which is in excellent untouched condition. The whole is a very rare and enormously decorative painting which has a great period look and is ready to hang. C.1830.
