A fine and charming pastel drawing of a chow dog by Faith Kenworthy Brown (1882-1973). The portrait has a wonderful sense of character of the dog. The work is in excellent condition and is signed to the lower left. It retains the original oak frame which is in excellent condition. Faith Kenworthy-Brown is listed as a portrait, landscape and poster artist. She studied at Sir Arthur Cope’s School and the London School of Art, and she later became art teacher at St. Alban’s College in Saskatchewan, Canada. She exhibited widely including the Royal Academy, The Royal Society of British Artists, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and several others.
The whole has a great decorative appeal and is evocative of that twenties period. C.1920.
