Product Description
A fine oil on panel by Mark Edwin Dockree, Exh.1880-1890. The painting is beautifully observed with some great detail in the figures on the shoreline and the fisherman’s camp. The painting is signed to the lower left but also retains some wonderful provenance on the reverse with a letter from the artist to the purchaser stating the work was exhibited in Manchester. Mark Edwin Dockree lived in London and Hertfordshire he exhibited for a brief time at both the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of British painters, as well as others. The painting has been professionally cleaned and is in good condition. The frame is not original but has some age, it is of extremely good quality with a great look. There is a title tablet to the frame locating the scene as lake Bala, the largest lake in Wales. The whole has a great look and is ready to hang. C.1890.
