A great example of a late Georgian Sampler. Worked typically in silks on linen, it has a rose bud border and an overall use of many floral motifs. The upper section is worked with numbers and the alphabet. Centrally there is a short verse below which is the name and date: Susannah Wainhouse aged 15, 1810. The sampler has no holes or loss and the colours are amazingly bright and strong, it does have some light staining around the edge. The frame is the original, simply ebonised with a gilt inner. The whole is ready to hang and a very good example of the type.
