Product Description

A charming and interesting Edwardian watercolour of a gentleman reading. The watercolour is beautifully observed and is in excellent condition. There is a considerable amount of information about the sitter who is John Fielder Child, he was born Oct 4th 1833 and died Dec 23rd 1921 and this portrait was painted in April 1910. The artist has signed the reverse: Eveline Child, who was obviously a relative. John Fielder Child is buried in Hurstbourne Tarrant near Andover. The painting has been later mounted in a Victorian period rosewood frame of good colour, figuring and condition. The whole is ready to hang and has a great period look. C.1910.
Overall sizes in inches, including frame: 13 1/8 by 15 3/4
