Product Description

A fine quality Regency period miniature portrait of a gentleman. The painting is beautifully worked in great detail and is a really superb little miniature. There is a considerable amount of information about the sitter who is Thomas Child of Manor Farm, Hurstbourne Tarrant, near Andover. Thomas Child is recorded as living 1777 to 1846 and was a yeoman farmer. The information about the sitter is retained on the reverse, originally written in pencil and later traced over in pen. The miniature is not signed but this is not uncommon for these. The painting is in excellent condition and is in the original frame which is ebonised pine with a gilt inner line. The whole is a really lovely example of a late Georgian provincial miniature, in great condition and ready to hang. C.1810.
Overall sizes in inches, including frame: 7 by 8 1/4
