Unusual cold painted spelter nodding dog

A very charming and unusual cold painted spelter nodding dog. The piece is beautifully modelled as a dog playing with its lead or collar, with the head fixed on a metal spring so that it gently nods back and forth when tapped. The figure is very heavy for spelter and may be some other alloy. It retains the original paintwork in good condition with the usual wear as would be expected for such a tactile piece. The whole is in good condition with one tiny casting hole. A very unusual piece with a huge amount of charm and presence. C.1920.
