A great oil on canvas laid to board still life of a conch shell with beads by Greek/American artist Alexander D. Sideris (1898-1978). The piece is a wonderful still life study in thick impasto paint with an interesting composition of items and a particularly good handling of the reflection of these items in the glass table top. Alexander D. Sideris was born in Skopelos, Greece, studied in France and settled in America. He worked in oils particularly as a portrait painter but also in still life and design. The painting has been professionally cleaned and is in good condition. It is mounted in a modern frame of good quality that works well with the image. The whole has a great decorative look and is ready to hang. C.1930.
